DSAT Tec Trimix 65

This course opens up the advantages of trimix to the diver, and divers are qualified to make multi-stop decompression dives that employ EANx and oxygen for accelerated decompression, and any trimix with an oxygen content of 18% or more. This course is a sub course of DSAT Trimix and limits divers to a depth of 65 metres and a more "normoxic" oxygen levels of Trimix.

Prerequisites

To qualify for the DSAT Tec Trimix 65 Course, you must be:

18 years of age or older.

Certified as a PADI Rescue Diver or have a qualifying certification in diver rescue and accident management from another organization. (Students who meet this
through a qualifying non-PADI certification need to provide proof of CPR and
first aid training within the previous two years.)

Certified as a DSAT Tec 50 Diver or have a qualifying certification in deep
decompression diving using air/enriched air from another organization. (Students who qualify through a qualifying certification other than DSAT Tec Deep Diver must read the entire DSAT Tec Deep Diver Manual and complete the Knowledge Reviews prior to beginning the Tec Trimix Diver course.

Course Details

The DSAT Tec Trimix Diver course is intended to extend the depth range available to technical divers trained and qualified to use Trimix, air, enriched air and oxygen for technical decompression dives beyond 70 metres in open water. The DSAT Tec Trimix Diver course is intended for technical divers certified as DSAT Tec 50 Divers (or qualifying certification from another training organization). The course extends their depth range capabilities by training them in the use of trimix (helium, oxygen and nitrogen) with no less than 18% oxygen content.

After successful completion of the DSAT Tec Trimix 65 course you'll be able to conduct gas-switch extended no-decompression dives, decompression dives and accelerated decompression dives using Trimix, air and enriched air to 65 metres. You'll also understand the hazards and risks involved in technical diving, as well as how to prepare for and handle reasonable foreseeable technical diving emergencies. Its goals are:

	To qualify the diver to plan and to make dives using open circuit scuba with various trimix blends, air, enriched air and oxygen using technical diving equipment and procedures required to manage the risks involved.
	To train the diver in the motor skills required for technical trimix diving
	To assure the diver understands and acknowledges the hazards and risks involved with technical diving in general and trimix diving in particular, as well as the limits of the training received in this course.
	To train the diver to prepare for and respond to the reasonably foreseeable emergencies that may occur in this type of diving.
	To provide the foundational skills and knowledge for further training and experience in technical diving.

Equipment Requirements

Since the equipment is such an important part of the success of a Tec Rec Diver, it's important that you purchase it before the course begins. Everybody is different when it comes to equipment but as a Tec diver already you will probably know in your own mind what you need and more to the point what you like, and some of the equipment you already have may be able to be upgraded for Tec Rec use. 	Double cylinders (minimum 70 cf each, with larger preferred) with isolator manifold
	Primary and secondary regulators, one with seven foot hose (approx.) for gas sharing, and one with a Submersible Pressure Gauge (SPG)
	Stage/decompression cylinders each with regulator, SPG, mounting hardware and proper labeling/markings. Two per diver will be required.
	Two Backup decompression cylinders as appropriate and required for the environment
	BCD and harness – redundant buoyancy control is required (double bladder BCD or dry suit if suitable for weight of equipment worn)
	Depth gauge/computer and backup depth gauge/computer
	Timing device and backup timing device
	Trimix Decompression information (tables/Trimix computer) and backup decompression information
	Exposure suit appropriate for environment and dive duration. (If you will use a dry suit, you should be trained/experienced with their use in recreational and technical diving prior to using them for Tec Deep training or diving.)
	Argon system if required
	Weight system (if needed)
	Jon line (if needed for current diving environments)
	Inflatable signal tube
	Surface Signaling device (whistle, mirror etc.)
	Reel (back-up recommended)
	Lift bag (bright yellow or per local community practice preferred, backup recommended)
	Knife/cutting device and backup
	Slate
	Backup mask (optional)
	Compass
	Primary Dive Light
	Back up Dive Light
	Oxygen Analyzer (optional)

	Emergency Oxygen (optional, instructor will provide for course)
